should my dog wear the brace 24/7?
We strongly recommend that your dog only wear the brace during normal waking hours of the day. We suggest you put the brace on in the morning and take it off at night when they rest.
how long is the recovery time?
If your pup has a cruciate ligament tear in the knee, we recommend three to six months of wearing the brace consistently. This is the average time your dog should wear the brace while the scar tissue builds up in the correct area, thickens, and strengthens the knee. Of course, the age of the dog and the extent of the injury will play a part in this. For extreme activities, we recommend that your dog wear the MuttKnee Brace for the first year to avoid re-injuring the knee.
- WHEN SHOULD I STOP USING THE BRACES?
-
- As recovery can vary, keep an eye on how your dog walks after a few months. That will help you determine whether or not further use the brace is necessary. Typically, we suggest no less than 3 months of wearing the brace consistently. We are always here to answer any questions, even months after you ordered! Checking in with your Veterinarian for follow up is always recommended as they will be able to give a good assessment of your pup's progress.

WHAT IF MY DOG HAS AN INJURY TO THE OTHER KNEE?
We can retrofit another MuttKnee Brace to the original to support the other knee for $70. It is common for them to end up with an injury in what is now their "good leg", days or even months after the initial injury on the other. We almost always recommend you order two braces from the beginning to give that extra support on the good leg and prevent the same injury in the future.
